My name is Sarah (Waller) Sikes. When I was a little girl, from about the ages of 5-8, I lived two doors down from Art and Jane in Old Bridge, New Jersey. I have so many wonderful memories of playing at their house after school. Since the majority of my extended family was in Kansas, Art and Jane became my surrogate grandparents. Jane used to play hide and seek with me in her house. She’d give me root beer flavored candies and salted tomato slices for snacks. Sometimes we’d snap green beans together in her kitchen. After I moved away, Jane and I exchanged letters until I reached college. I was just telling my husband and two sons about her this evening (we had sliced tomatoes with our dinner!) and thought I should look her up. I know her passing was felt deeply by those who loved her; she lived a full, wonderful life, and I thank her so much for the love she showed me!
