John F. Murphy passed peacefully into heaven at his home at the age of 84, on the Feast of the Epiphany, on Sunday, January 6th, 2019. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, he was a resident of Yardley, PA for the last 42 years. A loving husband, great dad, proud grandfather, he is survived by his wife Mary Murphy (nee Jacobs) of 61 years; his son John and daughter in law Kathy of Wenonah, NJ; his son Michael and daughter in law Robin of Marlton, NJ; and his daughter Cathleen Parsons and son in law John of Yardley PA. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Hannah, Sean, Autumn, and Desi. John was a 1957 graduate of Villanova University, and spent his career as a Civil Engineer with the Army Corps of Engineers in Philadelphia PA and Washington DC. After his retirement from the Corp, he served as the Director of Public Works for Lower Southampton Township, PA. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and spent many years coaching for both local and CYO programs. John was a humble man with many accomplishments, but the greatest of all were his family and faith. His Memorial Mass of Celebration will be held at St. Ignatius Church, 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, PA on Saturday January 19th at 11:00 am. Friends and family may call from 9:30 am until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, and on his behalf, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or any charity of your choice.
