Obituary of Barbara J. Rattigan

Barbara Jean Estes Rattigan, 85, of Lambertville, NJ passed away on February 22, 2023, surrounded by her family at her home in Lambertville, NJ. 

Barbara was born in Atlanta, Georgia to James Major Estes and Frances Folsum Guynn on November 14, 1937. When she was 5 years old, the family moved to Upper Darby, Pennsylvania where she graduated in 1955 from Upper Darby High School. Barbara and her husband Daniel started DBR Industries in 1969, which is still in business today in Newtown, PA.  

During their married life, they lived in Havertown and Yardley, PA and then Lambertville, NJ. Barbara and Dan also made wonderful memories together at their vacation homes in St. Croix, USVI and later in Sea Girt, NJ. 

Family and friends were most important to Barbara.  She loved them and cherished spending time with them.  Barbara was passionate about politics, civic service, home decorating and gardening in her free time. She was extremely proud of her involvement in the Bucks County Republican Party and was elected Jury Commissioner in 1977-1982. Barbara was also instrumental in opening the first halfway house for runaway girls in Langhorne Borough, the Youth Services of Bucks County Inc. 

Barbara is survived by her three children and their spouses: Daniel Rattigan (Jacqueline), Susan Rattigan and Jennifer Andreoli (Nick), along with five grandchildren and sister-in-law Carol Warner. She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Daniel F. Rattigan Sr. 

Funeral services will be held at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Ave. Yardley, PA 19067 on Monday, March 6, 2023, at 10 a.m.  Msgr. Ralph W. Stansley, Priest of the Diocese of Trenton (retired), will be officiating. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery located on River Road in Yardley, PA. Visitations will be held at FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home on Sunday, March 5, 2023, from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. and again on Monday, March 6, 2023, from 9 a.m.- 10 a.m.
