I had the privilege of working with Joe at NJM, but got to know him best during the many times our paths intersected on the basketball court of youth games: he as a ref and me as a coach. He was the epitome of a gentle giant, always funny and personable, and someone you considered to be a friend even if you didn't know him all that well. His warmth and decency to all will surely be missed, and I hope that memories will provide comfort to his family.

Sue & Family, Although it’s been years since HS and seeing each other when you lived across from Carr’s, it doesn’t lessen our condolences to you. Joe was a wonderful guy who you could tell enjoyed umpiring. We don’t ever remember seeing him without a smile. Now we have a crew of kids that are NJM employees and they remember him well. Getting to share the last couple years and making memories with you were incredible. I’m going to miss our calls back-and-forth during Eagles games, praying to the football gods that we would win and crying when we would lose. I love you Uncle Joe and I will miss you dearly.
